Summer's Swelter

Ever since I can remember, I haven't really liked hot wearther. It makes trying to be actively involved in outdoor activities next to impossible. For example, when I was ten- a bad year/summer for me, I had to have surgery to try to help me walk better. For two months, I was confined to a wheelchair in a small condo apartment. This particular summer, like this current summer, was extremely hot. The only difference was that it was June and July- not August. That year, summer's heat arrived early. My brother was lucky. Mom allowed him to play outside and attend a summer daycare program for school kids. There were indoor activities, so the kids weren't really bothered by the extreme heat. I, on the other hand, couldn't go- as my parents had no way of getting me up and down three flights of stairs. Bummer! The other bad aspect of this particular summer was the idea that we only had window air cconditioning units in the apartment. Therefore, we really didn't have very good air conditioning at all. Mom and Dad had to run fans, also, in an attempt at keeping us cool that particular summer.Currently, I find myself in a similar cenario. Yesterday, the air conditioning at the Mary Bryant Home wasn't working, so everyone was sweltering in the heat. That meant we all had to try to stay cool- until the air conditioner got fixed. Then- today, our activity director decided to cancel the outing for tomorrow- due to the heat. I think it was really smart of her to do that.
I guess the summer swelter got to the Cubs this afternoon. They ended up losing their game, which I didn't expect at all. Although they lost this one game, they're still rightfully in 1st place in the National League Central Division. Regardless of this one loss, the Cubs are still the greatest team in all of baseball right now.
