At least three times a week, the activity director gives an exercise class- where she's actually conducting the instruction- naming the exercises and specifying how many repetitions of each exercise we should do. Sometimes we get to decide how many repetitions of each exercise we should do each time we actually have class. Being able to participate this way sure makes the class a lot of fun for everyone.
On the two days, however, when the normal exercise class isn't taking place, we can do exercises on the fitness equipment or by following along with a workout tape. I like this kind of exercise, too, because it's an opportunity for everyone to be able to choose what they'd like to do for exercise. I guess it's a bit like "choice time" in preschool and kindergarten.
Another thing I like about our exercise class is that it isn't mandatory. No one is pressured into attending; whereas, you have no choice when you're in elementary and high school- when gym class is often a mandatory requirement for graduation. Taking part in an activity that is only enjoyable, fun, and a great way to start the day- makes me feel really good all over.
